Ohse

Ohse

Literal meaning: In this moment, we are equal in all things.

If I am a carpenter and you are not, and we are engaged in the business of carpentry, then I am the superior. If I am a carpenter and you are a mason, and we are engaged in the business of laying stone to form a wall, You are my superior.

If we are but sitting and speaking, or debating topics of no relevance to our expertise, then we are equal in this moment, or ohse. This term is most perfectly used when it is used to forgive an obvious lacking, such as a strong man assuring his weaker partner that they are equal partners in the endeavor of digging a ditch. In this usage Ohse is not a statement of literal equality, but rather a declaration of equal credit for a task done in partnership.
